Veer to be short and crisp
December 02, 2009
Anil Sharma's forthcoming period film, 'Veer' is garnering headlines for its unique concept. The film scripted by its hero Salman Khan is based on a huge budget and equally huge sets and crew.
Taking cue from other period films like Jodha Akbar, Salman doesn't want 'Veer' to be too long. He is keen to maintain the film's length to 2.5 hours. Salman is of opinion that these days audience are not interested to watch lengthy films. The actor gave assurance about 'Veer' through his blog, by writing, “When you watch a period film, for some strange reason, it is believed that the film is going to be three hours plus, with flowery dialogues, very heavy with no humor in it but I assure you Veer is not like them. We are trying to keep the film to about 2 hrs 35 minutes approx. There is so much of scale and bigness in the film that we didn't want to compromise and lose out on anything.”
Veer's script which took 20 years for the actor to prepare is said to be actually meant for a five-hr film. Had they been sticking to the original, the budget would have been not less than Rs 100 crores, sources said. The original script is said to have gone into massive changes, to keep in sync with the contemporary times and technology. Having no qualms over his script changes, Salman said, “The present script is a lot different from what I originally wrote fifteen years back. I knew that the script had to be changed. There were certain changes I liked, there were some that I hated. But at the end of the day it's a creative process and Anil Sharma had the last word in whatever creative differences we had.”
Directed by Anil Sharma and produced by Vijay Galani, 'Veer' has Zarine Khan and Miss UK Lisa Lazarus along with Salman.
